James Bond is a British literary and fictional character, often depicted as a smart and peerless spy, who works for the British Secret Intelligence Service(SIS) or MI6. Bond was first conceived as a Cold War-era operative. He’s a womanizer and a masculine icon and an enthusiastic gambler. He first appeared in the novel, Casino Royale written by Ian Fleming in 1953. James Bond is a good-looking, and charming guy who is good at wooing girls and good at fighting against the goons. He’s tall and muscular and wears a black suit.
So, I have been watching too many James Bond movies on the Movies Now TV Channel and have been hooked up to it. James Bond wears cool suits and, wears a cool watch, drives an Aston Martin car that has everything right from missiles to laser beam light. Plus he has pretty awesome guns and weapons. Whenever I see any James Bond film, I seek to get pumped and feel like James Bond and feel like saying Ranka…..Pranay Ranka. Just saying. So,

The name “James Bond” was inspired by an American Ornithologist:-
Since Ian Fleming was a bird lover and had an interest in birds, he got inspiration from that of the American ornithologist James Bond, a Caribbean bird expert, and author of the definitive field guide Birds of the West Indies, Fleming, a keen birdwatcher himself, had a copy of Bond’s guide and he later explained to the ornithologist’s wife that, “It stuck me”.
Fleming began writing the 1st Bond novel to distract him from wedding planning:-
Ian Fleming began writing the 1st Bond novel at his appropriately named Goldeneye estate in Jamaica. There’s a film titled Goldeneye starring Pierce Brosnan.
Every Bond novel was written here, where he spent two months of every year in Jamaica. The first novel in the James Bond series, Casino Royale was written in parts because he was trying to distract himself from his upcoming wedding to his then-girlfriend Ann Charteris as he had little interest in flowers and seating charts so he needed to start writing the most famous spy series of all time.
Daniel Craig’s Bond featured in the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony:-
In 2012, the Queen agreed to appear in the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony with Daniel Craig as James Bond. The 2012 London Olympics was all about celebrating British history and one of the most archetypal British symbols. Is there a more British symbol than James Bond? Maybe one the Queen. The two of them teamed up for the sequence of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The Queen accompanied the Bond into a helicopter to escort her to the Olympic stadium. Of course, her majesty had a body double for the parachuting scene. The campaign was directed by Danny Boyle, who directed the Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire.
Roger Moore was afraid of firearms while he played the infamous gun-toting agent:-
Roger Moore was one of my favorite actors who portrayed Bond very well after Sean Connery, but actually, he was scared of firearms. In an interview, he said that a gun once “blew up in my hands, which deafened me for a few days”. But, he always wanted to play Bond and liked it. He always had a stunt double where he had to run because he felt awkward and inelegant when running.
Bond’s weekly alcohol consumption is nearly 5 times the recommended amount:-
Bond was a heavier drinker, as shown in every film. According to a study published by the Medical Journal Of Australia, over the past six decades in two dozen movies, James Bond was seen sipping alcohol precisely 109 times.
A study conducted by the University of Otago in New Zealand analyzed James Bond films from 1962 to 2015 to better understand the drinking pattern. Their findings? Bond had a “severe” and “chronic” drinking problem- and he performed some pretty risky maneuvers while under the influence of alcohol. Chronic risks include frequently drinking before fights, driving vehicles, high stakes gambling, operating complex machinery or devices, contact with dangerous animals, and extreme athletic performance. In the film, “Quantum of Solace”, Bond consumed six Vespers, his concoctions consisting of gin, vodka and, a blend of wines called Kina Lillet. According to a study, that much amount of alcohol would have raised Bond’s blood alcohol level to an estimated 0.36 grams per deciliter and could have lead to coma, heart failure, or even death.
James Bond almost perfectly fits the description of a psychopath:-
Sound strange, but he’s a psychopath. James Bond is the world’s most famous psychopath. He’s the original serial killer, the psychological narcissist who came in the cold. Bond displays a superficial charm, a manipulator, maintains a short-term relationship, no problem taking the risk, a narcissist, and most important displays no grief or guilt when killing someone. Bond has killed nearly 362 people combined and he doesn’t seem to have an empathy that helps him get the job done.
James Bond is Scottish:-
Yes, he’s Scottish, not British. According to Fleming, he’s half Swiss and half Scottish. He was born in Zurich to Andrew Bond of Glencoe, a village in Scotland, and a Swiss woman, Monique Delacroix, but both died in a climbing accident while on a holiday in France. Sean Connery, the first actor to play James Bond on screen was a Scottish.
Bond:- The Musical?
The interesting part about the James Bond films is the theme song. Bond has always been the symbol of charisma and masculinity. But did you know that the theme song was an adaptation of a song from the stage musical?
The man who is credited for composing the theme song, Monty Norman had previously adapted a novel called a house of Mr. Biswas into a musical, and the soundtrack included the song called Good sign, bad sign, which sounds similar, so then John Barry re-arranged the tune, jazzed it up and, lost the lyrics and, an iconic theme song was born.
Pierce Brosnan is the deadliest Bond:-
Who’s the best Bond is the question. While most will say that Sean Connery is the best Bond and, some might even say Daniel Craig. I think the best Bond was Pierce Brosnan. To be frank, I loved Pierce Brosnan as the smart 007. He starred in 4 James Bond films. I think the reason why he’s the deadliest and, the best James Bond is that as compared to the 6 actors who have played James Bond, he’s killed between 76 and 136 bad guys. He had better charms as compared to other actors who have played James Bond and, plus in all the 4 James Bond films in which he starred were over-the-top with great graphics and, great gadgets like the car becoming invisible and was able to control his BMW using a Sony Ericsson phone. Plus he drove a tank. Isn’t that cool.

Shocking! As I was reading about James Bond and trying to analyze the character created by Ian Fleming, I got this piece of information that, Sean Connery the first actor to play James Bond on-screen, wore a hairpiece or toupee in every James Bond film that he starred in. Sean Connery started losing hair at the age of 21 and, therefore required to wear a toupee. Not only Sean Connery, actor Roger Moore and, Timothy Dalton also wore a toupee.
